Beginning with the 2016-2017 school year, affiliations flat basis by school.
Each school will pay a flat $250.00 rate. Some schools may pay an introductory rate, or local particpatining clubs only may be charged a higher affiliation fee.
Under this affiliation structure, every student in your school is eligible for membership once your school pays the affiliation fee. We feel this will help the local clubs on a number of levels: 1) students who have financial need can participate without having to be 'under the radar', 2) once the affiliation fee is paid to the State YMCA, the remainder of funds collected go to your Club's treasury to be used for projects, meetings, and to offset the cost of participating in district and state events and conferences. In fact, many of our Clubs across the state will pay less in affiliation fees under the new structure than under the old. Additionally, as a member perk, students will receive a $15 discount for each conference.
Yes! Scholarships are available. In fact, each year we give out thousands of dollars in scholarships because it is important to all of us at the State YMCA to offer our great programs and conferences to all Georgia teens. Check out information on this website about scholarships or contact a State YMCA Staff member for more details. All information is confidential!
To be an "Advisor" for the purposes of the State YMCA of Georgia, one must be at least 21 years of age and have successfully passed a Criminal Background Check. Since "Y" Clubs also operate under the auspices of local schools, the Advisor must be approved through the school administration. (NOTE: The requirements vary from school to school).
We do not require that you be a member of a "Y" Club in order to attend our conferences. However, member schools do receive a discount at each conference. Besides, if you are in grades 6-12, you should be in "Y" Club anyway! Don't worry, it is not all that hard to start a Club in your school. We'll help you! Contact a State YMCA Staff member for more details. You can still attend a program or participate in a conference until we get a program established at your school, but you will need a chaperone.
Any student in middle or high school can! Don't have a "Y" Club in your school? Contact a State YMCA staff member and we'll help you get one started!

The State YMCA of Georgia is part of a nationwide YMCA teen leadership initiative, active in over 40 states. We are not a governing board of local (facility) YMCAs, nor are we a department or program of any YMCA branch in Georgia. Unlike a YMCA branch with a fitness center and a pool and child care programs, the State YMCA of Georgia serves as an independently chartered organization dedicated specifically to providing programs and opportunities for teens. Membership in a local YMCA facility is not required in order to participate in State YMCA programs.
Each local YMCA and the State YMCA maintain independent, but mutually beneficial relationships. Additionally, each YMCA is financially independent.
